Regarding his stupendous discoveries, he said: "To myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me." When I became an entrepreneur, I realized that the only reason Newton had the luxury of asking why apples fall out of trees was because he came from a wealthy family. That was why he had time to think about "trivial" things like gravity. Not being from a wealthy family myself, I resolved I must must must get my bills taken care of so I could spend my life exploring and discovering. I knew this was what I was put here to do. I had to develop a life and a business that would ALLOW me to do that. If I spent 40 years punching the clock and working for the man, then in the parable of the talents, I would be the wretched slave who squandered everything out of fear and cowardice. How about you? What did you really want to become when you were 7 or 10 years old? 12, 17, 20? What did you want to be when you were a child? When you were a teenager? Seriously. I want you to stop and answer: What did you desire to achieve? What did you want to be known for? What mark did you hope to leave on the world? Do you remember? (Of course you remember. How could you forget?) What do you STILL want today? The real question is: Do you have the will to call out those dreams and look at them afresh? It takes courage to ask: What do you really want? If you DO still want to achieve something big, a legacy…then the next question is… Are my life and business structured in a way that will allow me to achieve it? Or are they structured in a way that is murdering my purpose?
