AdWords Stupidity Tax just went UP today! "Enhanced Campaigns"

The world's greatest marketing cocktail party August 1-2

Mel,

Google is RAISING stupidity tax today, by introducing Enhanced Campaigns.

Wall Street has not been happy with Google, because Google just missed their 2nd quarter 2013 targets.

These two events walk hand in hand. In fact they've just eloped.

Bid prices are sliding downward because of mobile phones. The ground is shifting beneath Google's feet so they're doing a land grab.

The land grab is "Enhanced Campaigns." It's where Google lumps mobile devices together with PC's and tablets, seizing more control of where your ads show. This is a way for them to charge you more money for clicks from mobile devices.

It's the oldest game in the world. Google has always been doing stuff like this.

Cheap clicks on mobile-only are a thing of the past now.

This will be a field day for consultants and savvy AdWords advertisers who are up on what's going on. If your competitors are asleep at the wheel, their conversion rates just went down.

One thing I see as a MAJOR advantage - which ONLY advanced marketers will grasp - is a new ability to adjust bids based on geography.

I have done extensive analysis of my own database with Ben Morris, and we know, for example, that people in Hinsdale Illinois (a posh suburb of Chicago) are 20 times more likely to become my customer as people in Bellwood (a ghetto).

Enhanced campaigns make it much easier to bid 20 cents in Bellwood and $2.00 in HInsdale. Nationwide marketers will do VERY well to pay attention to such things. Enhanced Campaigns will help this item.

Enhanced Sitelinks also give you more bells and whistles than before.

There has been a huge outcry about this all over the web - but Google needs a short term revenue boost so they're coming to soak it from YOU.

The bottom line:

1) This is a mixed bag and it's bad if you're not paying attention. It can be a win for you if you DO pay attention. It's a change of rules.

2) In the next few weeks, we will do a review of Enhanced Campaigns for Mastermind Club members. There will also be a flurry of activity in the private Mastermind Club forum.

I urge you to join. At $99 a month it's the best community out there for online marketers, easily pays for itself by saving you from one mistake. In a world where one mistake can cost you five thousand dollars, I can't imagine not having this group at your fingertips.

--> As ninja MM member Jeff Martyka advises, a simple starting position is to set "Mobile spend = negative 100% of Desktop spend."

However the right number for you may be 40% or 70%. People do a LOT of searches on Mobile. A LOT.

With Google, always sleep with one eye open.

When good copywriting gets you arrested & divorced

“You could charge $7,500 to attend a cocktail party open only to Perry’s highest level students, and the admission fee would be worth the relationships that came out of it. It’s a country club.”

-Travis Smith, Professor of Marketing, Journalism School, University of Missouri-Columbia

Mel,

Dave worked in a job he hated and it was giving him an ulcer. Nearly had a nervous breakdown. One day made a decision: “I’m bailin’ from this place, and come heck or high water, I’m going to make it on my own.” Started a safety consulting business, helping companies comply with gov’t regulations.

A year later, he’s doing… okay. Not great, but OK. Decides to spend every penny he has and come to a 4-Man Intensive, hoping for a breakthrough.

I ask to see his sales letter and his lead gen. He sends out Faxes.

“You mind if I rewrite one of your faxes?” I ask. “I bet I can make the phone ring.”

“Sure,” he says. So right there while everyone was watching, I wrote him a fax.

That fax almost got him arrested - and divorced!

Felix Dennis on how to make 500 Million Dollars

Get my personal assistance and transform your business in 48 hours
http://www.perrymarshall.com/roundtable/4-man-intensive/

Mel,

Felix Dennis is the founder of Computer Shopper Magazine, Maxim, and dozens of other publications. A very wealthy man. Some great gems from his book "How To Get Rich":

“Too many people want to make a blockbuster movie and live in Beverly Hills. Not enough people want to dig holes.”

On borrowed money:

“What are banks and venture capitalists but usurers who offer you an umbrella when the sun is shining and snatch it away the instant a few rain clouds appear?”

Risk and reward:

“An honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay is not risk taking.”

Personal vs. Corporate Finances:

“Never personally underwrite business loans for your company unless you absolutely, positively are forced to.”

Negotiating:

“Few of us are any good at detailed negotiations. That includes your opponent, by the way. Most negotiations are unnecessary. Don’t enter into them. Remember that ‘the fortress that parleys is already half taken.’ Save serious negotiations for serious occasions.”

Chasing money:

“If you chase money desperately in the earnest belief that you can never be happy without it and seriously think that the chase is a meaningful occupation, I doubt very much you will succeed. You have to be fiercely determined, true. But an appreciation of the absurdity of the chase helps enormously.”

Ownership:

“I once made a half a million by selling a magazine I had not even published yet to a rival. Half a million pounds for a day’s work. And why? Why? Why? Because I owned it. I owned it all.”

Fear:

“Try for just a single day, a whole day when you refuse to acknowledge fear of failure, fear of making yourself look like an idiot, fear of losing your lover, fear of losing your job, fear of your boss, fear of anything and of any kind. Fear will creep back, usually at three in the morning.

"Laugh at it and tell it to take a hike. Smash it in the teeth. Spit on it. Put your arms round it and make nicey-nicey. Then slip a sharp blade into its stinking throat just as you’re French-kissing it.”
