Mel,

Weird but important facts…

The Empire State Building (tallest building in the world at the time) was begun in a boom time, the '20s. It was completed in a bust of the early '30s

The Sears Tower (now known as the Willis Tower and then the tallest building in the world) was begun in a boom time, 1970. And completed in a bust, the energy crisis of the mid-1970s.

The Petronas Towers (at that time the tallest building in the world) was started in the boom time of the 1990s. Completed during the dotcom bust of the early 2000s.

The Burj Khalifa (currently the world's tallest…)

OK, you get the point.

Coincidence?

No.

People make big plans when things are going well.

They contract when things are going poorly.

Problem is, you should probably do the exact opposite.

A lot of entrepreneurs are going to make disastrous moves in the next 2-3 years.

In chaotic economic times that's what happens.

Because most entrepreneurs don't really get how economic cycles WORK and how to take advantage of them…and avoid making foolish decisions that can tank our business

If business owners do not understand these cycles, they cannot possibly make the best strategic decisions about how and when to grow their business.

That's why I'm doing a webinar with a world-class economics expert Akhil Patel to talk about how entrepreneurs like you can "read" these cycles and make better decisions.

Akhil has been researching and writing about economic cycles for a decade and has tracked the present one since 2012, making a number of prescient calls for readers of his newsletter.

On this session, Akhil will:

  • Provide an overview of his 18-year economic cycle theory
  • Show us where we are in the current cycle and why
  • Illustrate this with the indicators he uses to track the cycle

Watch this presentation and get the knowledge you need to make the wisest decisions you can in this time of chaos.

Big lesson from Netflix? It’s not what you think

Your map for winning in the age of chaos
Axis Shift starts soon
Find out more here

Mel,

Everyone knows Netflix pounded Blockbuster into oblivion. (Remember those red Netflix CD sleeves and the subscription where you didn't get charged as long as you mailed the DVD back eventually?)

That was the first nail in the Blockbuster coffin.

Then Netflix pivoted to streaming and Blockbuster went POOF!

But Netflix accidentally gave birth to something entirely NEW that nobody saw coming, not even Netflix:

Binge-watching TV shows.

Everyone knew by 1997 that TV was gonna get streamed.

But what nobody foresaw was millions of people watching an entire season of Breaking Bad over a weekend.

Who could have known plots would explode from 2 hours to 20 hours of drama?

Or that a huge video series industry would BOOM, with the best screenwriters lured away from Hollywood and onto TV?

That the sophistication of 2022 TV would pierce the stratosphere?

When a new binge-watching industry gets spawned by streaming, that is called Emergence.

And here's a big secret about emergence: You don't need to predict the emergent property.

It's seldom possible.

But what you MUST do is embrace the new rules destined to create it. Be the leader instead of the victim.

I have done this over and over and over.

Click here to read about just some of the axis shifts my clients and I have made.

I have a formula for this.

It's called Axis Shift.

What is Axis Shift? It's a strategy for solving the most impossible problems in the world:

  • MOST (not just many) professions are 10-50 years behind state of the art
  • MOST professions are ripe for disruption
  • MOST professions are built on false assumptions
  • The tools for that disruption are right under your nose… you just don't know it

This means a killer Definitive Selling Proposition is waiting for you. You just need to assemble the pieces.

Axis shift is a strategy for:

  • Exposing wrong assumptions which are so baked-in, so "air we breathe" that nobody bothers to question them anymore
  • Merging new knowledge which becomes your Anvil (may come from very far away; may be sitting on your hard drive right now)
  • The Anvil destroys the old by switching or reversing a major assumption
  • New ingredient creates new paradigm
  • You invite the world to pound slag off of your prototype… which perfects it at blazing speed
  • The new paradigm creates a new standard, resetting expectations. No one will ever be content with the old again.
  • Someone, somewhere does something totally unprecedented with your new paradigm (Emergent Property)
  • Congratulations… YOU are now founder and leader of a new profession, new industry.

You can do this at will.

I want to show you how.

That's why I'm doing a webinar with a world-class economics expert Akhil Patel to talk about how entrepreneurs like you can "read" these cycles and make better decisions.

I did a webinar back in 2020 with Akhil Patel and it was mind-expanding and eye-opening.

So, I'm inviting him back to give us an update.

Akhil has been researching and writing about economic cycles for a decade and has tracked the present one since 2012, making a number of prescient calls for readers of his newsletter.

Akhil is Director of Property for Sharemarket Economics and Editor of Cycles, Trends and Forecasts, a financial newsletter published in London. His work has been featured in MoneyWeek (the UK's largest financial publication), and he is a regular commentator

on business news on BBC Radio and investor channels such as IGTV.

On this session, Akhil will

  • Provide an overview of his 18-year economic cycle theory
  • Show us where we are in the current cycle and why
  • Illustrate this with the indicators he uses to track the cycle

Don't let your business sway in the turbulent winds of economic whim.

Watch this webinar and get the knowledge you need to make the wisest decisions you can in this time of chaos.

If…

Mel,

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs…

It was the very end of my life in the Dilbert Cube. The company I'd worked for was being sold for $18 million, one month and one day after September 11, 2001.

Surely you recall the post-9/11 haze. The dreamlike stupor.

Customers froze. Phones stopped ringing. Purchase orders stopped. A week later I went to a trade show. People physically showed up, but mentally everyone was checked out.

For a couple of weeks I commuted to work each day. Going through the motions. I answered the occasional email. Agitating in my cubicle, surfing the web and checking out stuff on EBay. Waiting for the world to return to normal.

The company acquiring us made me a job offer.

The job offer was not so great. But it still looked very attractive, considering the vacant Chicago air space and the silent phones.

Quit your job in the midst of that kind of turmoil? You'd have to be crazy to walk away from any job in such circumstances.

That's what my coworkers told me. I also had a few relatives who said starting a business right now is insanity.

But my wife, Laura, had different ideas. Laura said, "Perry, if you've ever had a chance to strike out on your own, this is IT. You should bail."

She had more confidence in me than I did. Still I needed a sanity check, additional confirmation. I consulted my mastermind group.

Suzy Seay, a financial planner, said,

"The fact that "most folks aren't risking new ventures right now" means there is great opportunity out there. It's not as risky as you think – but you won't be able to see it clearly until you take the leap."

I took the leap.

Three weeks later, the first paying client kicks in. "This thing's going to work. I'm not going back!"

Turned out that what most thought was the WORST time to bail was actually one of the very best.

I believe we are in that same air space again.

A brave few will take the leap and secure their future NOW.

Most will not.

Most will cling, emotionally and financially, to the way things used to be…hoping and praying they will return in time to save them.

They will not.

Here's how you let go and seize this opportunity:

How to Be a Disruptor in a World Gone Mad

Axis shifting in the age of anxiety
Find out more here

Mel,

The world has gone mad.

  • War
  • Inflation
  • Economic tremors
  • Interest rates
  • Russian dictators
  • Chinese dictators
  • Energy crisis
  • Prime Minister of the Month Club
  • Europe's a mess
  • Crypto wasteland
  • Labor scarcity
  • Banking power-grab
  • De-globalization

It all seems new. Some of it is.

But it's also a LOT like 20 years ago.

But we forgot.

In 2002:

  • One year after 9/11
  • Dot Com crash D-E-C-I-M-A-T-E-D the internet
  • Optimism washed away
  • Government spending money like a drunken sailor
  • "Homeland Security"
  • TSA & Guantanamo
  • World is still brick and mortar
  • Economy sucks
  • Business is a SLOG

These things were portents of a New Order.

The New Order:

  • Google
  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • Netflix
  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • GoFundMe
  • Siri

Tiny saplings grew into tall oaks. Today, a million kingdoms flourish in their branches. A changing of the guard in celebrities, experts, personalities, communities.

(I know a guy who sold all his Amazon stock in 2004, the week they missed payroll for the first time. Oops.)

IF you opted to seize the day in the early 2000s… IF you took the leap… five years later you woke up owning the world.

I'm not just talking about Steve Jobs. I'm talking about millions of much smaller players.

Find out more here.

Seize the day,

Perry
