Why Most Will Never Escape the Hamster Wheel

Mel,

I've been hit with a lot of flack about the "work one hour a day" stuff.

One of the most common objections that gets flung at me is,

"What if everyone did that, Perry! Nothing would ever get done! The business world would grind to a halt!"

Well, first, no it wouldn't.

The objection fails to account for the evolving definition of "work" that we're honing here in Planet Perry. If everyone "worked" one hour per day the way we define it in our culture, the business world...and the world at large...would enjoy an age of abundance (of thought and profit) we haven't seen since the Renaissance 500 years ago.

But second, it will never happen.

Remember, 80/20 applies here as everywhere.

What if everyone worked one hour a day, you ask?

They won't.

80/20 proves they won't.

Only a thimble-full of the shrewdest and boldest entrepreneurs will ever have the balls to pull it off.

Heck, it's not even close to 80/20. It's 99/1, even 99.9999/.0001.

Most business owners, especially the ones who've sucked down a steady diet of "massive action solves every problem" rhetoric, will hypnotically hop back on the hamster wheel and keep spinning until they drop.

They'll never see past the whirring bars of the wheel.

And that's YOUR opportunity.

In fact, it's your best (and only) opportunity to build a STAR business.

In today's 2:32 clip, Richard Koch explains THE MOST important reason to work one hour per day.

Why Being a "Player-Coach" is Killing Your Business?

Mel,

Do you know how many of baseball's first six World Series Champions were coached by "player-managers"?

All six.

Do you know how many of the last 65 have been coached by player-managers?

Zilch.

The last player-manager to win a World Series was Lou Boudreau of the 1948 Cleveland Indians.

In fact, professional baseball hasn't even seen a player-manager since Pete Rose nearly thirty years ago. And his teams never even made the post-season.

Pro basketball hasn't had a player-coach in almost FORTY years.

Football? Nearly NINETY years.

Competition is fiercer. Athletes are stronger and faster. Billions more dollars are on the line.

The last NBA player-coach, Dave Cowens, when asked what advice he would give to someone considering it, replied, "Don't do it."

It's bad for the player.

It's bad for the coach.

It's bad for the team.

The sports world has changed dramatically in 30 years. Player-manager is now a laughable concept.

Which brings up the question, "Why are you doing it?"

As Richard Koch pointed out in the Star Principle Seminar, working harder IN your business is just as foolish as Bill Belichick strapping on a helmet in the Super Bowl...
