The speech launched the Evolution 2.0 $5 million prize. (Currently $10 million)  Everybody knows that evolution is right up there with abortion, gay marriage, gun control and immigration.  It's one of the top five issues that get people riled up about.  But I had made two promises to myself when I first dove down this rabbit hole.  #1: I will engage in conversation and debate about this subject with any reasonable person.  #2: I will ignore no verifiable fact.  I was very afraid when I first made those commitments. I was scared that whatever I would discover might upend my entire belief system.  But because I made those two pacts, I discovered things I couldn't have imagined. (If you want to know what they were, read Evolution 2.0).  Over and over again, I said to myself, "Oh my goodness, why hasn't anybody told me this before?"  Today I believe it's the biggest untold story in the history of science. So, 13 years after that I'm at Arizona State University, invited by a famous physicist, Paul Davies, launching a $5 million prize to the world.  And today, I'm welcomed at the Royal Academy of Science, I get invited on expeditions by renowned scientists, I have started a cancer research foundation that is funding some of the most exciting cancer-reversing and detecting research in decades.  After billions of dollars and 50 years of very little progress.  I ended my talk at ASU by saying that the world is gridlocked. Everybody is trapped in their own tiny echo chambers. They only listen to people that they want to listen to, and they "block" anyone they don't want to hear from.  That's the way social media works. There are at least a million people in the world who are so much like you that you can just go and hang out with them online… and they will believe everything you want to believe.  And they will say everything you want to hear.  And they will never challenge your beliefs.  And will never let YOU challenge THEIRS.  And this is destroying our ability to have civil, reasonable conversations and debate.  Dark Horse is not about helping you sell ideas and beliefs that you have NOT paid the price for.  If you're trying to sell an unverifiable fact…if you're ignoring verifiable facts…if you are unwilling to engage in conversations about your ideas with reasonable people, even ones who vehemently disagree with you… Then Dark Horse cannot help you. Do not sign up. This is not about selling bad ideas with persuasion tricks and sales tactics. This is about breaking through in industries that are gridlocked. Where everybody is trapped in their own tiny echo chambers. It was a license to participate in a system that had held a death grip on an industry for more than half a century.  And even though the poor service delivered by this "system" was so bad that it was the butt of hack standup comedians…people still went into serious debt in order to purchase their "franchise" to operate within it.  The system was so entrenched that nobody thought an alternative was even worth talking about.  Then a disruptor emerged. And overthrew this decades-old tyranny of under-delivery. By 2019, that same license or "franchise" was selling for less than $150,000.   An 85% decline in less than a decade. You've probably figured out by now that I'm talking about the New York City taxi cab industry and Uber. One of the greatest success stories of the smartphone revolution. In fact, they may get you banished to the backwoods.  Many conservative, good-old-boy, hidebound arenas hold marketing in contempt.  Either they feel it is "beneath" them or they feel it is deceptive, manipulative, or downright evil.  They feel their beloved and sacred ideas and institutions should be protected from such base influences.  If they get a whiff of "sales-i-ness" in your approach, their nostrils will flare and they'll turn their nose up at you.  You will not only NOT make progress, you may be excluded from playing in their little game at all.  Ever again.  I've seen experts make this fatal mistake many times.  They break the unwritten rules of the "game" and completely waste any and all progress they may have made up to that point. It's not their ideas…it's not their proofi…it's not their arguments…it's not their motives.  It is simply that they have the stench of sales on them.  Many will sputter and fume, "But I don't want to play their silly games! My ideas are better! If they were rational they would listen to me!"  Good luck with that.    If you want to be a martyr and cynic and never make any progress, that's the correct attitude to have.  But if you'd like to actually see some change made… In my Dark Horse Disruption course, I will show you how to avoid breaking the unwritten rules.
