22 years ago, Ken McCarthy had about a hundred people at his System Seminar.
Remember, back then, the internet was just as gee-whiz-bang and just and mystical as AI is now.
It was like, "Whoa, my head's gonna explode. Look at all this cool stuff you can do!"
But the people in the System Seminar rooms invented internet marketing such as it is today.
Modern sales funnels, autoresponder sequences, squeeze pages, SEO marketing, video marketing, product launches, you name it…
And at the very first System Seminar, in Cincinnati, Ken got up and kind of nervously asserted…
What is it that we are really doing here? We are doing direct marketing. We are doing what Claude Hopkins wrote about in 1918 in Scientific Advertising. We're just doing it 10,000 times as fast. And that orients everything that you do and shows you how to make good decisions. And if you got that, then you have your feet on solid ground.
Ken might have assumed that we would yell at him or argue at him, but everybody nodded their heads.
"Yeah, I guess that makes a ton of sense."
And off we went.
Thus began the golden age of direct marketing.
We are now beyond direct marketing.
That era has passed.
The golden age of direct marketing is over.
Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.
What new age are we in now?
We're finding out.
And we will be finding it out at my Definitive AI Seminar.
I think 10 years from now we'll look back at this seminar the way I look back at Ken's System Seminar.
That's where the new era started.
The people in that room "got it" and sparked the New Renaissance of entrepreneurship.
Those people invented the tools and strategies and businesses that DOMINATED the next 20 years.
