The week after Ultimate Guide to Local Business Marketing (which I co-authored with Talor Zamir) came out, Google amputated the right side of the search results.
Someone tweeted at me “That day when your book comes out, and it’s already obsolete.”
Fortunately, our book is all about how to get into the premium spaces. The ones that are STILL left after the amputation. In fact, if you had followed our local business strategies, the amputation might even work to your advantage because now there are four premium spaces at the top instead of just three.
The book is by no means obsolete. But it does underscore the fact that if you’re in a competitive market then you’ve got to sleep with one eye open.
The tactics you need to survive will always change faster than books can be written.
Which is why you need to be in a Mastermind community. You must keep your ear to the ground. Brush up on the latest tactics when you can. Hone your AdWords, Facebook, YouTube, etc. skills in paid coaching programs at LEAST once a year.
Your goal: Always stay ahead of the curve. If you can do that, life is good. If you start to get behind the curve, life can suck really fast.
Good news: Most marketers won’t do this. Most entrepreneurs won’t stay vigilant. Most humans are asleep at the wheel.
