Mel,

Andy Warhol’s incisive comment about how, in the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes has come true.

And exactly as Andy would have predicted. Fame now means very little, if anything.

Long ago, being “famous” actually meant something. If you wanted to achieve true celebrity, you had to create something of lasting value. You had to change the way people see the world. You had to entertain and educate on a very high level.

Today?

Today you can be famous for being famous. Whatever that means.

Or you can become internet famous. Which just as dubious.

I had my own 15 minutes a few months ago. I wrote a blog post about the death of Robin Williams. It got nearly 2 million LIKES and nearly as many SHARES.

Whoopee.

Next day everyone had forgotten about it.

Near as I can tell, the world went on exactly as it had before. I know MY world certainly went on exactly as it had before. I can’t trace one single benefit from that brush with “fame.”

That’s the value of “attention” these days.

It profits you nothing.

Unless you have a way to capitalize on it.

Questions for you…

  • Have you ever wondered why more people don’t take action after they click your ads?
  • Ever wondered why people don’t buy after they open your emails?
  • Ever wondered why prospects don’t answer your phone calls after saying they were “interested”?
  • Ever wonder why it’s so hard to make the powerful connections you need to do profitable Joint Ventures?
  • Ever wondered why you haven’t gained access to the “Movers and Shakers Club” in your industry?

I think I know why.

You’re probably making several of the mistakes I’m going to cover in…
