Mel,
Are you surrounded by people who freely and happily accept "Christmas"? Or are your friends suspicious of everybody who is enjoying nice gifts? Do you and your peers assume people who are prosperous must have somehow cheated?
I had a friend who lived in Kiev 20 years ago. Shortly after the Iron Curtain fell, just before the internet.
Fred’s motto was “Fred is free.” Nicest guy you ever met. He had an IQ of 160. Fred was a low-income guy. He worked as a parking lot attendant.
Fred said something curious: "If you're visiting the Coliseum in Rome and you meet a bunch of other tourists from a former Eastern Bloc country, they're probably criminals." If they were from Ukraine and could afford to dine in swanky restaurants in Italy, they extracted that money out of somebody.
And guess what, when Bryan Todd was in Italy, he met a bunch of Chinese tourists. He started speaking Chinese to them and they all took pictures together. When he returned and showed the pics to his Chinese friends, all without exception, looked at his picture of the Chinese tourists and said, "Oh, those filthy government employees and communist party members, using all OUR money on lavish vacations in Europe!"
Fred might be right. It may be that in a corrupt Eastern European country, all the rich people are on the take. Perhaps that's true. I'm not sure, but it might be.
However, in the West where we live, that's a dangerous assumption. It's unfair to assume that if somebody is wealthy in the United States or Europe, they must be criminals.
Yet many people do have a deep-seated orphan belief that wealthy people are criminals.
Counter example: Let's assume that The Social Network movie is true, and all the stuff about Zuck is true. Apparently, he did throw a partner or two under the bus. That may be, but millions of people use Facebook for free every day, and he's not charging any money and they get huge benefit. Zero cost to end user.
It’s not realistic to think that you can get rich in 2015 by stealing for a living. My experience of entrepreneurs is, most underprice their products and take out two mortgages to meet payroll. Yes, some people do bad stuff, but if you believe that all rich people are thugs, you're never going to get rich.
And Christmas is never going to show up.
If you believe everybody who gets nice Christmas presents is evil, you're not gonna get nice Christmas presents.
If you know ahead of time you’re going to give your presents away because you've been a naughty boy or girl – you’ll never open them on Christmas day. Or if you do, you’re going to wig out and break your electric train.
Orphan ceilings operate at every imaginable income stage. When I started learning how to do marketing and consulting, all of a sudden I had mentors who got paid $10,000 or $20,000 a day to do consultations. They didn’t even blink. Eventually, there were those like Richard Koch who won’t consider a deal unless it's going to make him $10 million.
Do they have any orphan anxiety about Christmas? Probably. Do they have any at that level?
None.
Are most of your friends orphans, people with issues around big money and big opportunities? Their attitudes are going to rub off on you.
Are most of your friends movers and shakers? Are you joining masterminds where you’re the smallest guy in the room instead of the biggest or smartest? If so, then a big Christmas is on its way… and when it arrives, it will feel normal.
For some people, Christmas is normal. They expect it… just like most kids expect Christmas. They're not financial orphans.
In Headtrash Transformation we’ve been discovering how to quiet the orphan and welcome big paydays!
All the sessions have been recorded and transcribed, so it’s not too late.
And there’s one final live session left on July 2nd if you opt UP for that too!

Carpe diem,
