In an effort to make its search capabilities more robust, Twitter has added a human element to the mix. The change will mean that Twitter will monitor popular search terms, which are usually short-lived, and send queries to human evaluators for categorization. In doing so, Twitter Search should become more sensitive to breaking news and deliver timelier information.

Social search is a big deal for media outlets, and Bitly is lending a helping hand with three new APIs that will allow app developers to track which links ar getting the most clicks on social platforms. The APIs will reportedly provide metadata, including search languages, search keywords that are spiking in interest, and "real-time search that supports queries by topic, domain and user location."
