"Like a Frying Pan Upside the Head"

Football Concussions, Frying Pans,

and Memos from the Head Office

One Entrepreneur's Wake Up Call

Listen Here

Mel,

Maybe you've heard me talk about "memos from the head office".

That's my pet phrase for the big, breakthrough ideas that only seem to come to me when I deliberately slow down and ... just listen.

  • In the shower
  • Walking aimlessly around my neighborhood on a crisp, autumn day
  • Journaling over my morning tea
  • Traipsing around the grassy, wind-swept hills of western Ireland

But finding time to slow down and ... just listen...is nigh impossible when you're chugging away on the hamster wheel.

So, in order to get your attention, sometimes those "memos" don't come in the form of gentle whispers from the clouds.  Sometimes they come like a "frying pan upside the head", in the words of Michael Strickland.

Michael got his bell rung in a flag football game about a week ago. Suffered a concussion. And, for a while there, the risk of spinal damage or serious brain trauma was a real possibility.

So, Michael was laid up for a few days. Plenty of time to...just listen.

The "memos from the head office", Michael received while worrying about his future were a real wake up call.

So I called him. And he told me all about it in a very brief interview.  I think you'll find it fascinating...and maybe it will keep you from having to suffer your own version of a  "frying pan upside the head"!

Listen here.

Carpe diem,

Perry Marshall
