Mel,
At one of our Roundtable meetings a couple of guys were talking about church.
(No, this is not a "religious" email. Don't worry. All business.)
First guy asked, "Where do you go to church?"
Second guy, "I'm not. I'm kinda fed up with church."
First guy, "I totally get that.
"But I find that if I don't get around people regularly I start to get a little squirrely."
"I crawl up inside my head and start to think I'm the center of the universe.
"I don't go to church to listen to the sermon anymore. I go to rub against
(metaphoircally) other humans and keep myself from getting to screwy."
I feel the same way about business.
If I don't get out and rub up against other brilliant business people, I crawl up inside my own head.
I get more than a little squirrely.
My "new" ideas turn out to be just tired retreads of old ideas.
Trying to come up with something new by doing the same thing over and over and over
And spending time with the same person every day…me!
How about you?
When's the last time you took some squirrel-proofing action and went to a live event and rubbed brains with other brilliant people?
Here's your next best chance…
