It rained a LOT during the festival.  Now  here in the midwest that would just mean some muddy conditions but nothing that a 4-wheel drive vehicle can't handle.  But on the "playa" in Nevada, which is a dried out lake bed?  Well, rain turns that earth into a very special kind of "mud."  Sticky mud. Mud that adheres to tires, shoes, feet, and makes it more difficult to move the harder you try.  You don't spin your wheels, your wheels get swallowed, caked in sticky earth, and your vehicle turns into a sculpture.  Buried, wedged, trapped. And when things dry out? You basically have huge clumps of cement-like alkaline material that cannot be removed with water! Why am I telling you about the hapless partiers of Burning Man?  Because for years, I felt like I was trapped in the playa.  The harder I revved the gas, the more stuck I seemed to get…  My book Evolution 2.0 devoted two pages to cancer.  I got on podcasts and told hosts: to understand evolution you have to understand cancer; and to understand cancer you need a correct grasp of evolution. Evolution is the key to curing cancer.  None of that attracted any attention. I got nowhere. The more I hustled the more stuck I got.  The field was completely resistant to my ideas…and I had zero "credibility."   So, even though my ideas were sound…I couldn't escape the playa.  Then the Dark Horse started to gallop.  Some of the strategies I had been implementing started to produce some forward momentum… WIthin a year I had become a change catalyst, helping science "insider-outsiders" become more entrepreneurial and marketing-savvy to sell their ideas and solutions.  I discovered anew that this "Dark Horse stuff" could literally change the world, save lives, and defeat the most formidable of mankind's enemies. A road paved with dead bodies has been cleared and tremendous progress and activity now click on at a refreshing pace.
